My First Homegrown Best Of Breed The Nature Trail's Bear, Broken Junior Buck, Takes BOB In PA
![]() February 2005 Pennsylvania State Convention Lebanon, PA Judge: Paul Kyle
I met Tracy Lukeman at her house to travel to the PA State Convention. She took a look at Bear and said he'd probably take his class. I thought that was a very bold statement given the competition in PA at this show.
But she was right. He came in second in one show and first in the other three shows, winning a BOB under Paul Kyle in the Saturday specialty show.
It was a wonderful place to win my first BOB with a homegrown rabbit. The competition was fierce and there were many rabbits on the tables. In addition, The Nature Trail's Honey Bun won a BOSV at the same time. That was just a little icing on the cake.
It's wonderful to win a Best of Breed with any rabbit in your barn. But to win it with a homegrown rabbit is something else again. What a show!
Bear now has 8 junior legs. As soon as he gets back into a good fur, I hope to grand him. He came in 15th at just 7 months of age at Holland Lop Nationals this year. Since he's just now turning one, I hope that the best is still yet to come.
