A Case of Fostered Kits
Tunes
Rosie had two kits on the same winter day that Kasey had
three. Initially, I gave all five kits to Kasey to
nurse. I wanted to make sure there were enough kits in
one nest in order to keep warm, since these were February
babies.

A Case of Late Milk

Mary's Abby has been a very
reliable brood doe. But on one particular litter, her
milk came in late and gave me quite a scare. These
babies were born in February. There were seven in the

Five Does and a Tiny Buck

Saynora's Legolas is a false
dwarf buck, confirmed by many litters, so I knew that the
tiny one in this litter could not be a peanut. I
worried that he would not be viable, given the size
difference. But my policy is not to kill peanuts, so I
wasn't about to euthanize him

Too Much Milk
These
two kits of Saynora's Celtus and Y&K's Athena were so
overfed that they could not turn themselves over.
Overfed kits are at risk for problems, including splay legs
and growing larger as adults. The solution was
simple--foster more kits to Athena. Luckily, Kasey had
a litter of two just a few days older
